If the Client commissions artwork or shops from Vikki Looney Art aka Victoria Looney then the Client will be deemed to have satisfied themselves as to the terms applying and have accepted these terms and conditions in full.
Please read these terms and conditions carefully. Any commission or use services implies that you have read, understood and accepted these terms and conditions.
Description of Product (Commissioned Work):
The painting will be produced on a high-quality stretched canvas (thickness specified before starting) or high-quality watercolour paper (gsm specified before starting). Any finished product on canvas will be protected from dirt, dust and UV damage using a strong high-quality varnish.
The work will be based on either a photo to recreate (for example your wedding photo), compositional portrait painting, or a description of the abstract painting agreed on at the time of quotation before payment. We will work together to find the most appropriate photo for the painting however the artist has the right to turn down the commission if a good quality photo cannot be provided.
All information regarding your commissioned work will be emailed to you with an estimate to be approved and returned, signed.
Photograph Rights:
Reference photos that aren’t owned by the client themselves must obtain permission from the owner of the photo. The same applies for if the photograph was taken by a professional photographer, permission must be granted prior to the commission being started.
Payment:
Payment can be made via website or payment link supplied, I require a 30% deposit to secure your booking or reservation of original artwork which is a non-refundable deposit.
Payment is divided into three parts:
30% of the total (non-refundable) to secure the reservation of the work.
30% of the total to be paid at the beginning of the work.
40% of the total plus postage to be within 28 days after completion of the work.
Prices are subject to change, however once the 30% deposit non-refundable has been paid the price is fixed.
After the second payment I will provide you with a pencil drawing that you can revise up to three times. (After the third revision a fee of £25 will be charged for each additional revision.)
For canvases, after approval of the pencil drawing, I will proceed with the painting. Photos of the progress will be sent to the client.
For watercolours, after approval of the pencil drawing, I will proceed with the painting (colours can be discussed together first). Then I will send you an image of the finished watercolour. After approval of the watercolour, I will proceed with the ink drawing in my personal style.
(Note that the ink drawing cannot be erased, so no changes can be made after this step other than adding more ink strokes)
Once the artwork has been completed, the final payment of the remaining 40% will need to be paid
within 28 days before the artwork will be shipped out. For original artwork, if the final payment isn’t received within the 28 days, if the artwork is deemed acceptable for public sale (for example a painting of an animal with no personal images included), it will go back on the market for sale and the deposit will not be refunded.
If the piece is commissioned and the client isn’t happy with the artwork, and it cannot be resolved with minor alterations, then the final payment will not need to be paid, however the client will not receive the artwork. If the artwork is deemed acceptable for public sale it will go on the market (for example a painting of an animal with no personal images included).
Artwork Progress:
Once work commences on the client’s portrait, Victoria Looney reserves the right to share “art in progress” photos on social media unless the client expresses this not to be done, for example a surprise gift.
If the commission is stated as a gift, then no images of the piece will be published until the gift is received.
Target Dates:
Before any artwork is started, a target date for the completion of the art will be agreed. The client will be notified once the product has been dispatched. From that point, the length of time it takes to arrive is no longer the artist’s responsibility.

The product will be posted via tracked delivery from the UK, or can be collected. The client will be given a tracking number, and the product will be shipped in protective packaging. Overseas delivery charges will be added on to the balancing payment.
